New Xbox to Sport 1.66GHz Microprocessors

As expected, the rumors related to the processing power of the Xbox 720 have started to appear. The recognized hacker and game new leaker Hector Martin, recently tweeted that the Xbox 720 could be sporting 1.66GHz processors.

“If you want more evident that MHz isn’t everything, a little birdie points out that Durango (Xbox 720) is specc’ed to have a 1.6GHz CPU,”

XBOX 360 experts will inmediately get worried, since the 360 has 3 micros running at 3.2GHz. If the clock speed is exactly as the one pointed out, then surely the next Xbox (which released date got narrowed to Holiday Seasons 2013) will have multiple cores, maybe more than 4, maybe a couple dedicated to graphics, one base and the last one up to the developer’s choice. However, it gets even more expensive as you add more cores, for a console that shouldn’t be above $450.

Now, here’s one more detail to calm you down after the news, the Wii U has a 1.2GHz processor, and not for that the processing power is worst than the 360.
